Cathedral Rector

Father Godfrey Mullen, OSB, is a monk of Saint Meinrad Archabbey. He was raised in St. Theresa of Avila Parish, Salem, in the Diocese of Belleville. He professed monastic vows in 1989 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1994. He has served in parish ministry, administration and teaching in the seminary, chaplaincy, and in retreat and parish mission work. In 2003, he earned the PhD in Liturgical Studies from the Catholic University of America.

Principal

Mrs. Linda Hobbs is a lifelong member of the Cathedral of Saint Peter. She attended Cathedral Grade School and Belleville East High School.  Mrs. Hobbs graduated from McKendree College. She has been an educator for sixteen years.  Mrs. Hobbs is married to Tom and has three children, all of whom graduated from Cathedral Grade School.

Director of Religious Education

Sister Theresa Markus is a member of the School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND) with their Motherhouse based in South St. Louis. She grew up in Aviston, Illinois. Sister Theresa came to the Cathedral of Saint Peter in July of 1990 with 23 years of pastoral religious education experience in Illinois and Missouri. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Notre Dame College in St. Louis, MO and her Master’s Degree in Religious Education from Loyola University of Chicago.

Deacons

Deacon Dave Fields was ordained a permanent Deacon by Bishop Braxton at the Cathedral in May.  A retired US Navy captain, Deacon Fields holds a Master of Arts in Theology, a Law degree, and a Bachelor of Science.  Deacon Fields and his wife Bing have two children, Thomas and Meilin, and have been members of the Cathedral Parish since 2006.

Deacon Wayne L. Weiler was ordained on May 25, 2013.  He and his wife Josie have been married for 38 years and have two sons, Jacob and Matthew, and three granddaughters. He is a 22 year veteran of the United States Air Force.  He received his Diaconal Formation from St. Meinrad School of Theology.  Deacon Weiler holds a Masters of Arts Degree and a Bachelor of Science Degree.  He is the Director of Staff, Air Force Office of Special Investigations, Region 3.  Deacon Weiler is the Spiritual Advisor for the Cathedral St. Vincent de Paul, the Belleville Cursillo, and a Chaplain for the Cathedral Knight of Columbus.  He and his family have been members of the Cathedral of St. Peter since 1997.

Organist/Choirmaster

Richard W. Thompson began playing organ for Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish as a high-school student. He has served as choir director and organist for several parishes throughout his life, including the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes, Spokane, Washington, and the Archdiocesan Choir at the Cathedral Basilica in St. Louis, Missouri. His family roots go back to ancient Mesopotamia.

Building and Grounds Committee

The purpose of the Building and Grounds Committee is to observe and to assess conditions of the parish grounds and properties. It also makes recommendations for repair and or replacements as required, and assists in obtaining quotations to submit to the parish and finance councils for approval.
